The Unlearning Can Take Time
September 5, 2008 9:41 am Relationships, WisdomFrom the very beginning, from the very first step we take, we are taught that we are not right. Our parents, teachers, churches. They don’t mean to, it’s a disease and we’re all infected by it. We live in a world that sees a glass half empty.
Always we notice something wrong with other people, always we notice mistakes. When you do something wrong, people will notice, but when you do something right, it is not always noticed. We see all the wrong and don’t notice the right. We see the ugliness and miss the beauty. It was what we were taught from the very beginning until we are grown up and it’s programed into us.
So when someone notices you, pays attention to you, loves you, you’re suspicious, it can’t be, they must be crazy, because I’m not worthy. But the truth is, you are one of the greatest creations on this earth.
So we have to learn to love ourselves, to realize our beauty and greatness and learn not to notice all our imperfections, criticize ourselves and notice rather the good things about us so that we can love those who love us because we are worthy. This unprograming takes time, it can’t be done in a day.
