A Not Sung Song
The lyrics are out of tune
A bird cannot sing
The meaning misunderstood
A sign not read
We have to know ourselves
Before we can know each other

In otherwords, you can’t sing about others until you sing about yourself. I think I was being lazy when I wrote this, sure isn’t much to it.

I don’t think you were being lazy, I think you were being profound. Some of the most profound sayings are word few. I’m not much for quoting the bible, but one of the first verses I memorized was “Jesus wept.” John 11:35.
That one verse opened up a whole new meaning of the bible to me.
Your poem is true. We can’t know other’s before we know ourselves.
Great poem and thanks for sharing this poem and this site is very informative about poetry.
