Poem of the Day – Broken Down Fortress

7:55 pm Just Me, Poem, Poem of The Day

Broken Down Fortress

I have built a fortress
Fortified with sticks and pebbles
It has many rooms
Hiding in each one
I am safe
I am death
I am all alone
then came the bulldozer
Breaking down everyone
I stand naked before you
Wishing I could explain
So proud is your ego
You leave me in the rain
Causing me pain
Has you feeling fame
But you are not to blame
I know I should be stronger
I would-of died
If I had hidden any longer

I will reach for the sun
I will drink waters from the holy one
My nakedness is beautiful
And I will not be ashamed
I will stand and believe
Believing in what has been conceived
Having faith in the fate that stands before me
I will be much stronger
