Lessons To Learn

Fred’s an old one
He is a slow and tired man
He used to be a salesman
He is still a salesman
But no one will buy him
He walks away
By himself
Alone

He had stories to tell
We have lessons to learn
Why will he die without us?

Martha weeds her garden
She grew up on a farm
All her children left home
She has pictures of Grandchildren
But they don’t care about an old lady like me
Alone
She weeds her garden

She has stories to tell
Her Grandchildren lessons to learn
Why should she die without them?

A valent warrior walks in the street
He sleeps out back
Yes, he remembers Patton
And eats very little
Do you have some spare change
He has a medal
It cost him his leg
And his lover
to another
But he doesn’t care
And takes another drink
As people
Walk by

He has a novel to tell
We a novel to learn
Why do we walk by?
