Realize And Pay Attention
The fog lifted
Bright sunshine shown upon the earth
the eyes of my heart watered
I realized
Yes
I realized
The clouds parted
The wind stopped
An eagle landed
I had to pay attention
Yes, be attentive
I have to come to understand
That I had not
How have I been fooled
Yet there’s still time
Sit up
Listen
Can your hear the small noise
Pay attention
And learn

Only A Woman Can
What is it about these women
Feeling empty inside
I cried
My mother nursed me
Filling the hunger within
The only way a woman can
A grown man now
Feeling empty inside
I watch you
Only wish to hold you
To fill the hunger within
The only way a woman can
Don’t think I just want to make love to you
Have you, and keep you
I just need to hold you
Only you can fill the hunger within
The only way a woman can

Had one more in me:
Was That Then
Somebody said
Thou nobody knows
They think it so
Because somebody said
and so it is
I can hear the laughter underground
as they hang the witches from the fences
Wind torn truth caught in the barbwire
of a make believe fense
rinsed
with the blood of the innocent
Somebody said that was then
But I ask
What about now

Cloud Over Your Head
There is a storm cloud over your head
follows you down the street
all the way to your feet
Everybody wished they had one
Except those who have one
Where did it come from
How did it get here
Who will take it away
Onlookers stare as wind blows through your hair
Waiting to hear
The thundering silence
They fear
Its a broken tree
and a crashed car
Why do they think there is something to see
You sing no ones song as you walk along
With a cloud over your head.

Attitude
If positive feelings are allowed to flourish
Negative feelings will not
If negative feelings are allowed to flourish
Positive feelings will not
We are the creators of our own attitudes

The same can also be said about how we look at other people. Bad people are usually good people that we don’t like because of our own narrow minded prejudice and bigotry.

Drinking my bottle of wine and feeling fine.
I’m not supposed to, but what the hell, it’s a drug. No different than the drugs that those people with degrees give you when you’re feeling bad.
Love, get caught and you’ll do time. Don’t dare tell no one, because it’s a crime. What kind of FUCKING world do we live in. Not the kind of world I want to live in. A place where people hurt you when you are kind. Because they don’t like themselves, so it’s not fine that you like them, to them, its a crime. Fine, I’m a criminal, lock me up, please.
I don’t want to live in this world, but I ain’t got no choice. Tried to die but lived anyways.
Ok, it will be ok. It’s just going to take some time. You probably don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, that’s ok, this too will pass.
Love

The Self Righteous
And The Righteous
There will always be earthquakes
Rainstorms and hurricanes
Changing the earth we are living on
But the inside
stays the same
And we
On the outside
Change constantly
Making ourselves
What we want others to see
But the inside
stays the same
Who accepts their feelings
and lives them out
Who hides them inside
trying to snuff them out
Who’s wrong
And who’s right
The body gets old and dies
But the feelings last forever
for all of us

The Odyssey
Everyone is living in these space ships
With no need for food, water or air
It belongs to us
and we don’t share
Should one of these spaceships experience
technical difficulty
The occupant will open the hatch
cry out for help
But no one will be there
No one will care
You take care of yourself
We don’t share
At the bottom are all those who lack
Food, water or air
Don’t go down there
They will rob you without care
It ain’t fair
You take care of yourself
We won’t fall down there
But isn’t it so lonely
No one else but yourself in here
Just flying around, going no where
As much as you may
No one will hear, or see
But someday, we will see and know
that we should have at least shared
Because we’re all gonna crash someday
We’ll have to open the hatch and get out
Honor each other as equal to ourself
Feeling guilty and wondering why we were so lonely
out there
While those who experienced technical difficulties
now judge us in the end

What Is Love
She said to me
What do you call love
An aged old young man answered
When I’ve seen you born
And I know how you’ll die
I see the fantasies in your head
I see the realities on your face
I see the dreams you try to pretend
Sometimes our life is a shame
But we’re no disgrace
It’s looking
Not being afraid of what we are seeing
It’s listening
Paying attention to what we are hearing
Not hiding the reality
Inside you and me
Here we are
So far away
From where we want to be
Keeping each other together
Knowing ourselves
Sharing each other
This is love
