A Poem About War That I’m Not Fighting In

Just Me, No War, Poem No Comments

IN THE ECLIPSE OF THE DAWN

Surrounded by sophisticated bob wire
In the eclipse of the dawn
circling overhead is a bat and a dove
They send their love

I’m not understanding why I’m here
protected
Across the fence is life destructed
I know I should feel so lucky
I can’t
knowing that there are lives in destruction
Can somebody tell me why
or better yet
just make it stop
Stop all this life stopping, hurting pain

Its an eclipse of the dawn
when an unknown song is sung
All the angles will be smiling
The dove and the bat will sing along

Surrounded by sophisticated bob wire
Circling overhead the bat and dove
send there love

But I don’t know why
I ask the sky
and there is no reply
Why not I
How is it that I’m so lucky
and they are not
It makes me want to cry

I cannot tell a lie
Thankfully but not happily
I have to ask why
Death and pain is cast upon some
innocent women and children cry to you
As Fathers and husbands unable to protect them
against a wrath of unseeing, uncaring and sometimes even
unknowing eyes

But I am lucky
surrounded by sophisticated bob wire
In the eclipse of the dawn
An unknown song will be sung
The angles will smile
The suffering will end
then

A Stone Is All You Got

Poem, Poem of The Day, Politics, Relationships, Religion, Wisdom No Comments

A Stone Is All You Got

Just agree with everything you see
Believe everything you hear
The stone is your reality

But the life you aint got
Until you are brave enough
To Disagree

Then inside that rock you will see
It isn’t that hard to be

Follow That Man Who Taught A Rainbow

Follow That Man Who Taught A Rainbow

Acting like a clown
I found as I looked around
I had fallen down
Just wanting to be
Someone you’d like to see
When I just should have been
me
A gray sky
the lies
and the mask
And when you can’t put it in words
It’s time to put it to an end
So I took thirty four pills
And lived
don’t know why I’m around
As I carry this grave around
But I’ve left town
I cannot go back down
All I lack is reason
Out of season
Yet I am alive

Though you think I should be ashamed
That I am to blame
I will have no shame
As I follow that man who taught a rainbow
Because there is gold at the end I know
Because I lived

As we gather around that pot of gold
I hope to see you then
see each other as we are
not as we thought
we were back when

Poems For Mom The Day After

Poem No Comments

I need to try to get to my email more often.  These were sent to me on the the 3rd in time for Mother’s Day and they are very good, so I have still have to post them the day after.   From Del “Abe” Jones. enjoy.

Military Moms

This year on Mother’s Day
We should think of offspring lost
And Mothers of all those Troops
Who paid the ultimate cost.

They’ve watched Sons and Daughters
Sent off to a foreign land
To fight wars and give their all
In some conflicts so ill planned.

But no matter what the reasons
They’ve always stepped up to the line
To give their lives for Freedoms
Enjoyed by all of yours and mine.

We must Honor all those Mothers
Of all those who have Served
And Sacrifices that they made
With our, “Thanks!”, so well deserved.

It takes a very Special Lady
To let Her Child go off to War
Or just to join the Military
With the pride and fear and more.

There’s too many Gold Star Mothers
And if you might know of one
Please send Her a special wish
To praise Her Daughter or Son.

Military Moms are the Greatest
With a strength beyond compare
Who hope and pray their loved one
Comes Home safe, from over there.

So, let’s keep them in our thoughts
And hope their prayers come true
All those Moms and all those Troops
Who stand Strong and Proud, and True.

Del “Abe” Jones

FOR MOMS

She was there at the beginning
When the world was new to you -
She was there to turn to happy times
Those when, you were hurt or blue.

She was there to listen to your thoughts
And when you asked, to give advice -
She was there to tell you, “Those don’t match!”
Or, “Hon, you sure look nice.”

She was there with you at nighttime
To help you say your prayers _
She was there to tell you, “It’s alright.”
When you had a dream that scares.

She was there at morning time
To get you up and out of bed -
She was there when you didn’t feel good (or did)
To say, “You’d best stay home, instead.”

She was there when you were hungry
And when you had those dirty clothes -
She was there when you needed her
(How she knew? Only heaven knows.)

She was there at the beginning
And she’ll be there your whole life through -
She’ll be there in your mind and heart
Just like a mother is supposed to do.

Mother’s Day

There were some different beginnings
To what we know as, “Mother’s Day”
One woman, Anna Reeves Jarvis
“Mothers’ Work Day Clubs”, her way.

They focused on sanitary conditions
And provided medicines for the poor
They promised to care for all Soldiers
From both sides in the Civil War.

After that War that had divided
The new-found peace would take her
To healing families and friends
And she became a real peacemaker.

Then, in the Eighteen seventies
Something we could sure use now
“Mothers’ Peace Day” was started
By, Julia Ward Howe.

A famous woman of the time
Reformer, lecturer, and writer of note
“The Battle Hymn Of The Republic”
Is something that she wrote.

A woman’ suffrage association
Voted her their first President
And hers, the first suggestion
To have a Mother’s Day event.

Then there was Frank Hering
In the year Nineteen ought-four
Of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles
Who claimed to open the door.

In Nineteen fourteen Woodrow Wilson
Recommending a Federal Mother’s Day
Signed a joint resolution
That we now observe each year in May.

No matter who takes the credit
It was a long time overdue
To honor all those Ladies
Who gave life to me and you.

So, those who still have theirs
Should remember those times passed
And thank Her now for all those things
She’s done for you in the past.

For those whose Mom is gone
It’s a time to reflect and say,
“Mom, I love and miss you,
On this, and every other day.”

Our Mothers shape our being
And have an endless wealth to give
And She will be a part of us
For as long as we may live.

it is the evolution of creativity.”

To Love Your Enemy

Poem, Relationships, Wisdom No Comments

To Love Your Enemy

Don’t make an enemy your friend
Enemies you can’t trust
To be betrayed by a friend
Is to become very hateful and bitter
Let your enemies be enemies
They will never disappoint you
Because you will never trust them
By this, love your enemies
As enemies

A Beautiful Song

Music, Poem No Comments

I don’t know who wrote this song, but it is very beautiful.

(I HAVE JUST BEEN INFORMED THAT Miley Cyrus WROTE THIS SONG)

Everybody needs inspiration,
Everybody needs a song
A beautiful melody
When the nights so long

Cause there is no guarantee
That this life is easy…

Yea when my world is falling apart
When there’s no light to break up the dark
That’s when I, I…
I look at you

When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can’t
Find my way home anymore
That’s when I, I…
I look at you

When I look At You I see forgiveness
I see the truth
You love me for who I am
Like the stars Hold the moon
Right there where they belong
And I Know I’m Not Alone.

Yea when my world is falling apart
When there’s no light to break up the dark
That’s when I, I…
I look at you

When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can’t
Find my way home anymore
That’s when I, I…
I look at you

You appear just like a dream to me
Just like Kaleidoscope colors that
Cover Me, All I need every
Breath that I breathe don’t you know
You’re beautiful…

Yea Yea Yea

When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can’t
Find my way home anymore
That’s when I, I…
I look at you
I look at you

Yea Yea Oh OH OH

And you appear Just like a dream
To me.

Today Is The Way

Today Is The Way

Yesterday has gone away

You mustn’t borrow
On tomorrow

Today is the way

For yesterday has gone away

Today determines tomorrow

Today is the way

One Hundred Times

Poem, Relationships No Comments

One Hundred Times

If I fell in love one hundred times
I would be hurt one hundred times
But I would learn one hundred things
Be one hundred times stronger
And be one hundred years older

Love is a process of learning
Turning and changing
Growing and knowing

It’s an adventure out at sea
Fighting a freggin storm
Trying to keep her on course
It’s a million different stars in the sky
Seeing both sides of a rainbow
Landing ahore in a foreign land

There is no way
I would turn love away

By: Roger Harkness

I think I wrote this when I was in the Navy.  We’d go on a seven month cruise and go all over the place and every time we’d hit shore, I’d see a women and I’d be in love.  Some would say it was lust, but I swear it was love.  By the end of the cruise, my poor ole heart would be wore out.  But everyone is different and every love is different, and I have even fallen in love with a man before, that was strange.  To this day and to the rest of my life I am now very careful to keep my love to myself, because people just don’t understand.

A Poem Without A Name

No War, Poem No Comments

A Poem Without A Name

People died of hunger
Crime and rape
Bullets without escape
Many children cried
Before they died
The earth wired
Growing tiered
It cries out to me
Couldn’t you see
Wouldn’t you think
It hurts me
Out of fear
Out of pride
You build missiles
To ascend the skies
Investing in ammunition
But not in human compassion
The seed you sow
Is the plant you reep
It’s full grown
Now the reeper weeps

The Resurrection and The Kingdom Come

History, Music, Poem, Politics, Religion No Comments

You can dissagree, because I have not found anyone to agree with me yet, but I still believe what I believe.

The rapture already happened. I wished I had the time to study, or money to hire historians to research my theory, but I have neither.

When I was in the Navy, I was fortunate enough to take a tour of the Catacombs of Rome, and they are huge. You can’t see them all in one day and the Catholic Church has part of the catacombs blocked off. An historian escorted us around and there I learned the biggining of the Catholic church.

This is what made me think, there are symbols etched into the walls that they still are not sure of the meaning. That doesn’t make sense.

So this is what I concluded. While the first of the Roman ceasars who would be converted to Christianity and become the first pope was still persecuting the Christians, word came to him that the Christians were gone. Ceasar knowing how Jesus had promised to return and take his followers could not let anyone know that they were taken for fear of being overthrown himself by a fearful angry people should they realize this. So he claimed to be converted and became the first pope of a church who would destroy any beliefs contrary, and so he did. That’s what I believed happened.

What is going to happen next is that Jesus and the Christians will return, and the kingdom on earth will be as it is in heaven as we were taught to pray.
