This weekend I was depressed.  I had bad dreams that people did not like me, so I took a gun and blew my head off.  I prayed real hard to have better dreams and I did, last night I dreamt that everybody liked me.  Weird huh?

Update on the future.  I figure 2012 will be interesting and people are tired of me talking about it.  I think those of us in Oklahoma are going to be ok, but that’s only a guess, I have nothing but hearsay to base it upon.  My X wife said she had a strong feeling and I also have a feeling.  Also based on a dream I had long ago that the earth shook really bad and we had no TV, radio or telephone.  The discrepancy is, there was no mention of the Internet in this dream and I’m not real sure if that is relevant, but I’m guessing we won’t have any Internet either.  This is my guess from my brief studies on the subject.  Planet X will be headed onto a path right at us or close to it.  As planet X follows this path it will go right thru the Asteroid belt, and when it does this, as it has done in the past, it will send asteroids in our direction, at least one will hit us.  This has happened before to our earth.  But as in the dream, we lived, but didn’t know what happened.   This could explain why it was before I was born I saw a mushroom cloud.  I always believed it was an atomic explosion but now I believe it might have been an asteroid slamming into the earth.  All of this makes me think of the Georgia Guide Stones.

I have moved in with my old girl friend who has always loved me, as I have learned a great and simple lesson.  Though we must try to love all, don’t leave behind those who love you the most, they deserve your most.  Don’t try to make friends with those who want nothing to with you, just like Jesus when faced by a town of people who wanted him to leave, who thought swine were more important than people, he just walked away, that’s what you got to do.

I’ve bought my girl friend an engagement ring, we plan on getting married in May.  She has lost her job.  I hope she finds a job soon so that we can begin to make plans.  I will be a grandfather in February and I’m not sure how I feel about that.  I’m supposed to be happy, but the grandchild will live over a thousand miles away so what’s the point, just means I’m getting older, but I’ll pretend to be happy because that’s what I’m supposed to do.  We are supposed to visit in May when the child is baptised and please don’t comment about the value of children being baptised, I will not post it, it doesn’t matter.  I believe God appreciates it anytime we think of him, and yes I believe God is a him based on a dream I had, so leave that one alone also.  We don’t know, we really don’t, people should just be allowed to believe what they want, you don’t know, so how can you tell anybody that they are wrong, because you might find yourself turning around some day and saying, “they were right all along.”

If my girlfriend gets a job I will buy me a new computer, it will have a solid state hard drive, something I’ve been waiting for a very long time.  I thought hard drives that spin in circles at thousands of rpms just to give us our data was a joke and was always wondering when we would move out of the dark ages, finally, can’t wait to get my hands on it.  A job with the Coca Cola Company looks promising, I will pray.

This blog used to link with my facebook, recently that has not worked, I need to figure out why, but if this post doesn’t, well then I’ll have to do it my self.  My facebook name is Minister Roger Peacefulpoet.  Sounds corny I know, but that was the only way facebook would let me do it, as I have recently became an ordained minister.  I had to make my first name minister, it would not except reverend.

Emily, one of my friends on facebook just brought up a good point.  Whether or not the green house effect really has an effect on the climate is only one part of the problem, a lack of oxygen is causing people to become sick.  Recently it has been discovered by accident that a lack of oxygen causes paranoia in people.   I was at a party some time back and someone had mentioned how everyone is so paranoid these days, I said, “it was the lack of oxygen.”  Everyone laughed, they thought I told a joke.  The other problem is TV,  if you come to know me you’ll hear me blame a lot things on the TV, but it is to blame for a lot of things.  On TV, the glass is almost always half empty.  We seem to be attracted to that, but in the end, the hero always wins.  In the real world we are never faced with all this death and destruction, and while we imagine ourselves as being the hero, in real life, we can never be that person, because that person is acting and the story is never real, even when they call it reality tv.  So we look around us and expect those we like to be that imaginary hero.  When we look at others we will always compare them with those we encounter on tv, the good and the bad, and these are only people acting out characters that don’t even exist.  So when the earth shakes and the tv will no longer work, it will be a good thing, we will be forced to see each other and ourselves as we really are and stop pretending to be something else or expecting others to be different.  The hypnotic trance of consumerism will pass and we will have to find new ways to be happy.  Rather than buying new things and throwing old things away, we will learn the value of things, ultimately the value of each other.

Net Neutrality – It’s YOUR Free Speech

ACTION ITEM, History, Just Me, News, Politics, Relationships, Technical, Wisdom No Comments

I think Net Neutrality is very important.  Some people will tell me that the Internet is full of porn or that we should be talking to each other face to face, while these arguments have some merit, these same people have tvs and spend most of their free time watching them.  First of all, what is porn, it is sex, what is sex, it was how you and I were created, is that so wrong?  Ok, now what’s on tv.  You will watch five people die a day, how can that be good.  So what’s the logic, there isn’t none, we are brain washed, really, we are.  The other argument, I will agree we need to visit more with eachother, but when we do, we talk about tv, really.  You know what’s really funny about tv shows, you never watch anybody watch tv, but thats what most of us do.  Our lives our so unreal, living our lives in a tv show.  So give me the Internet and the porn, it’s more real than you and your tv watching people die every day.

Net neutrality is very important. What the phone companies and cable companies want us to do is to have those of us who provide content (blogs, personal pages and myspace/facebook/etc.) on the Internet, pay them to host it at high speed, the free sites slow speed, so that once again there will be a one way conversation between the haves and have nots just like Print, TV and Radio. Right now our democracy is those who have the most dollars have the votes, it’s a scam guiding us with misinformation and entertainment. The Internet is turning that around and we can’t let them take that away from us. That’s my soap box. Later.

Dear Blog

Haven’t posted in awhile, not even a poem of the day, well been kinda busy and kinda having fun, but I’m back.

For Christmas I got a hard drive dock.? I have lots of extra hard drives hanging around and none of them are the new SATA and this dock takes the old format and this way I can run Linux on a separate drive under a separate boot up so one does not destroy the other.? It took a bit to get working. For anyone trying this at home, the directions say to set your hard drive in the enclosure to master.? I’m here to tell it won’t work, have to set it to cable select. I used Ubuntu 8.10. I understand you can do this with Kubuntu 8.04 but it was to complicated for me. Kubuntu and Ubuntu 8.10 can do it for you automatically but Kubuntu 8.10 uses KDE 4.

KDE 4 – basically (It Sucks). Looks nice though, but you can’t do nothing with it except look at it and say, “gosh that looks so nice.” I can praise the KDE people because they started from scratch on this project and that is honorable, but why? KDE 3.5 was working just fine. KDE 3.5 was so easy to use, even a cave man could operate it. Now we’re back to having programing skills to operate Linux and a lot of people who jumped in are going to jump back out.

For those who want to give it a try, go to Ubuntu.com

(Ubuntu is an African word meaning ‘Humanity to others’, or ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world. )

Though I’m not that familiar with Gnome, the other side of KDE. Gnome is what Ubuntu uses, the most popular Linux in the world, so I figure I can get used to it. It’s a learning process, but I’m getting everything to work, so that’s cool.

Today is Monday the 29th of December and it is currently 66 degrees. It must be the end of the world. I figure I can go out and rake leaves, but them leaves ain’t hurt nobody. It’s not their fault the world is ending, maybe I’ll just leave those leaves alone, their not hurting anybody. Besides, the world is coming to an end and there’s better things I can do, like the dishes, somebody has to do the dishes. My advice to you, put in a good movie, get something good to drink or maybe smoke and just enjoy some time for awhile because there is nothing we can do. People are going to loose their jobs, die of heart attacks and heat stroke and other things and all we can do is smile and make it as good as we can for ourselves and each other. If you can help out a friend, reach out your hand. We cannot stop it from ending, but at least we can make it end happily.

Dear Blog

In the past I had said that I could not vote for Obama because of his support of the 700 billion dollar bail out.

Well here is my delima.? Here in Oklahoma you cannot write in a person’s name for president, that disqualifies your whole ballet.? Oklahoma apparently only recognizes Republicans and Democrats.? So I can only choose between McCain and Obama.

Ok.? I think McCain is a good person, but I think Obama is a better, so I’ll have to vote for the better person, OBAMA.

But I’m telling you, they’re liars, both of them and neither one of them is the best candidate for president, but we get what we get and I have to vote for the least of two evils, and that would be Obama.

I’ve been goofing around.? After upgrading my computer, well you know I had downloaded the latest and greatest Linux I could find, burn it and install it because I could and so I did.

Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.whatever.? Well with tears in my eyes, broken hearted and a contrite spirit, in other words, I was crushed.? I couldn’t get it to work.? Either it couldn’t find my monitor or video card, I don’t know which because I couldn’t get in there to find out.? You know how the screen is so big, you can’t access the buttons in all the screens.? It was frustrating, but it looked nice.

I have an older copy.? A 32 bit Kubuntu 7.04 and it worked pretty good, I had good luck with it.? But it was a 32 bit and I have a 64 bit processor and so I wanted a 64 bit OS, until I discovered everything don’t work with a 64 bit OS and so now I want a 32 bit, kinda went around a circle there didn’t I.? That’s what I do, that’s how you learn.

So I installed that older copy, luckily it came with Firefox 2.something because their 3.something always crashes.? Then I got this message, would you like to upgrade to 7.10.? Oh man, the temptation was to great, I said, OK.? It worked, it was so cool.? So now I had 7.10 and I got it from 7.04, how cool is that.? Well, then it asked me would you like to upgrade to 8.04.? Heart be still, my finger trembled as it caressed the enter key and it all happened so fast, in the space of a TV commercial, behold, I have 8.04.? It didn’t give me KDE 4.something, I still have KDE 3.5 something.? Thepenguin must know that KDE 4 won’t work on my computer, that’s a pretty smart penguin, because it aint asking if I want KDS 4.

Two strange things happened.? It upgraded my firefox to 3.something and I thought oh no, it’s going to crash all the time.? But, it doesn’t, it hasn’t crashed yet, it’s been almost a week, unbelievable.? See it was Windows all the time – I knew it.

And the other strange thing, really not so strange, seems to happen a lot, my windows xp became unbootable.? And I thought about it.? If I try to fix windows xp I could loose my Linux.? Screw windows, I got Linux working and working good.? But you know, for us techie amateurs, if something is broken we have to fix it.? So I did, Ran the sort of reinstall windows fix thing and low and behold, windows didn’t steal the bootup and Linux was still there working, and hopefully they will live happily ever after, at least that’s the way it works in fairy tales.

So you know all that takes time.? Now, once again, I’m behind on my blog and have about 400 emails in my email box.? But, before I did anything else, I figure I should tell people, before the election that I’m voting for Obama.

Dear Blog #2

History, Just Me, Religion, Technical No Comments

Once again I have fallen behind, missing a day on my blog. ?But I had a fun day. ?Bear who owes us some money and does chores to pay us back. ?She was supposed to do beading, making jewelry to sell at an upcoming craft fair. ?Her mother was angry because she hadn’t done her beading as promised. ?To encourage her to do her beading and to make it more pleasant for her, I sat and watched dragon movies on sci fi with her all day. ?Well, I took a nap in the chair as I work nights and did a repair project for my wife and emptied the dishwasher, made coffee, fed the chickens and collected eggs, but other than that, I mostly watched dragon movies with bear, and it was fun.

My wife passed on a poem to me from her younger daughter to put in my blog, very interesting, and I will, I just need to get more information on it.

I’ve upgraded my computer. ?I once had 512mb memory and I thought that was a lot, but have discovered that this is low grade, so I’ve upgraded to 1.5 gig, and it is a lot faster, makes a difference, but the Internet isn’t any faster, that is disappointing. ?I’ve also added a DVD/CD reader writer. ?Now this cost me 24 dollars. ?Just to give you a bit of history. ?I think it was gateway computers who was just one man who came up with the idea of adding a CD player to computers. ?Such an amazing thing, and expensive, only Universities and big businesses could afford to own it, we’re talking somewhere around the figure of 10 grand. ?And we’re talking a CD reader. ?Now I have a CD reader/writer, DVD reader/writer, for about 24 dollars, amazing. ?

I like Linux and it is getting better all the time. ?With my high speed cable access and now my burner, I have downloaded and burnt Kubuntu, which is a derivative of Ubuntu with the KDE desktop. ?I like the KDE desktop the best, it is more like windows like most of us are used to and I find it more functional than the other desktop options like Gnome for instance.??

UBUNTU
1. An African phrase meaning “humanity towards others”.
2. “A person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.”

3. A distribution of Linux

Here is an example of why Linux is better than Windows. ?After upgrading my computer, if I boot up to Linux, Linux says, “Cool!” ?Windows however says, “what the hell is this, I can’t understand this.” ?So you have to install more software and drivers and still Windows doesn’t understand without a reboot. ?You know what is even more sad, we pay for that, but Linux is free. ?A true testimony to free in freedom.

It is now Sunday morning. ?I was going to write something else, but I can’t remember now what it was, oh well, like my mother would always say, it must have been a lie, I don’t know, I can’t remember. ?After I post this, I’ll go take a nap and get up and get to work outside and around the house. ?Because it is Sunday, because we work on Sunday, because we rested on Saturday. ?It’s a religious thing. ?Because God, the way I understand it, rested on the seventh day, which is a Saturday, and I’m guessing, he got back to work on the first day, Sunday, but I’m not sure, the bible isn’t that specific.? But honestly, we just do it that way because on Saturday we are tired and on Sunday we have work to get done and on occassion, neighbors will remind us that is Sunday, a day of rest and?I don’t know where they come up with that.? Like everything else, everybody just follows everybody else, but not me.? I have a mind and I use it and I go my own way.

Peace
Roger

Just Me, Religion, Technical No Comments

I’m supposed to post a poem everyday, because that’s what I said I would do, but I miss a day here and there.

I’m getting discouraged.? I get gobs of email from good people trying to change the world, I consider them to be my friends, but I can’t read it all, its just too much, and they’re just preaching to the choir.? I read them and say to myself, “I know, I know.?”

Sometimes I feel I should post this or that, but what good does it do, only the people who care read my blog.? The people who don’t care, will never read this blog.

So seeing that only people who care will read this blog, I should be writing to them, sharing about myself and helping them feel better in this goofed up world, and it is VERY goofed up.? So I guess I should be more prudent about my poem of the day.

Anyways, this is a blog, so:

Dear Blog

I work with a new person at work and it is nice because he actually does his fair share of the work and I have time to do other things, however that will soon be cut short as we are taking more work from other states.? Ya, we’re taking jobs from other people and working harder so the investors can make a buck – sucks, but that’s life. ?I am thankful I have a job, but still reserve the right to complain about the injustices in this world.

Ordered some upgrades for my computer, increasing my memory.? My computer has PC25300 and I ordered PC5400.? It all looked the same, 667MHz and stuff.? But when I looked at the order and compared it with mine I realized “oh oh” it’s different.? So I did some investigating, and thank goodness for the Internet where you can find all the information you need.? PC2 simply means DDR2.? The actual speed of the memory is something like 5338.? Some companies round up and others round down.? I don’t know why, it’s like all the misspelled words we have in the dictionary.? Satan is the ruler of this world and Satan is the king of confusion.? Satan however is not an entity.? I don’t really know what Satan is, but Satan is real, don’t have to look very far to figure that out.

Anyways, I really got off the subject didn’t I.??PC5400 and PC5300 is the same thing and if they say PC2 rather than PC, still the same thing, just ignore it.? Make sure you match the MHz and laptop memory will not fit in desktop computers.? Same memory, different size.? They had to make it smaller to fit in the laptops.

Ok, hope that helps, and if you happen to see Satan around, tell him to hold on so I can get his picture to put in my blog so everybody can see.

RSS Feed – What The Hell Is That?

Technical No Comments

Do you know what an RSS Feed is? You mean you don’t know and you use a computer? Well I guess they didn’t teach that in school did they?

I don’t know what they are either and I have and have had several blogs, even myspace, which had an rss feed. And I don’t know what they’re there for and I don’t even know what to do with them. Its time I learn, having done so, I share this wonderful new knowledge with you.

By the way, in an earlier technical post I explained that I couldn’t get FTP to work in Linux, well aparently there was something wrong with my Linux, after reinstalling Linux I discovered it was just as easy to set up as in Windows. So I’m back to using my Linux, so try to hack me if you can.

Get Yourself A Smart Car Like We Did

Just Me, Local news, News, Technical, Wisdom 1 Comment

What do you think of our new car, cute huh. Actually, haven’t got it yet, it’s reserved. Owned by Daimler AG, under the supervision of Mercedes-Benz, it falls under it’s P Class. In Germany this is an electric car, however here in the United States it looks like it will be a gasoline vehicle.

It’s called the SMART car. And a smart idea it is. While it does not get as good gas mileage as the Toyota Prius, it costs half as much and you have half as many moving parts, so most likely you’ll have half as many problems. Though it is small, its advertised to be roomy and safe:

**********

SMART TV

smart fortwo safety results announced

The 2008 smart fortwo achieved the highest ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for front and side crashworthiness. This is ?big? news for our fantastic ?little? car. For more information, click here.
**********

It has a 1 liter/61 cu inch aluminum 3 cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder cranking out 71 hp @ 5800 rpms.

With a 5 speed automatic manual transmission (we don’t know what that is yet), it reaches 90 miles per hour and accelerates from 0 to 60 in 12.8 seconds.

Locally they have a dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma. http://www.smartcentertulsa.com/

To find out if there is a dealer near you, go to http://smartusa.com/

We can’t wait to get our new car and show it off. We figure if it ever brakes down, we’ll just pick it up and carry it home, save a lot of money on a tow truck, yep, we’ll have the best looking go cart, with air conditioning and a radio, how cool can that be.

The Enemy Is Winning

Technical No Comments

I am using Internet Explorer 7 because Firefox isn’t working?right and neither is Safari and strangely enough Internet Explorer is now a fast browser, with tabs.? I haven’t discovered a fast way yet to move my book marks over to my IE favorites.? But when I figure that out I will happily share it.

*sticking my finger down my throat* It gags me to say that Microsoft seems to be the winner.? It is however their operating system.? Did they manage to figure out how to create an update “THAT ACTUALLY MAKES THEIR BROWSER WORK BETTER” and everyone else’s lock up, crash and act screwy.? Yep.

I do however miss Safari’s automatic spell check, what a cool feature.? While Firefox also had this feature, it could never find the correct spelling.

I would being using Linux right now, but I have not figured out how to FTP in Linux and when you have your own web site, that is important.? But Linux is almost here, so you better look out, you better not pout, because FREEDOM is what it’s all about there Microsoft, you better figure it out.
