Poem of The Day – Judgement Day

Judgment Day Is Just Around The Corner

Words can kill and you’ve had your fill
Murdered a hundred and your killing them still
Telling your lies and stinking air
Making gray skys
A storm will come after you

The condemned and unforgiven
Live in a land of unliven
Where snakes hold up and the lizards crawl
Where the sun don’t shine
Wall to wall
Ain’t no living among the unforgiven
No life at all
Nothing living

At high rise of the moon
Piercing stars hide out of site
And it all comes out in the moonlight

In this rocky place
There is no water anyplace
There is no rest in this place
Don’t want to come here
Don’t want to be here
You don’t want to go there
You don’t want to be there
Don’t want to be in this place

Make it good before its done to you
You don’t want what you done
Done to you
Better make it good today
For judgment day is tomorrow

Do you believe in judgment day? It is a big part of my religious background. I question all of my religious background, even this, but I can’t help but believe in judgement. I have to believe that people who take advantage of others will someday, maybe in another place and time, will themselves be taken advantage of as they did to others. I just have to believe that what comes around goes around, that there just has to be justice. Such a belief, though I cannot know for sure if it is true or not, gives us hope, that if we do good, then goodness will be done to us.

Poem of The Day – Just 24 Lines

From Midnight Muse

JUST 24 LINES

Why only 24 lines
How do you tell the times in just 24 lines
Is the word of song so sad that you only bear to read
24 lines
After 24 we are old and a bore
Reading so much can make you sore

How do I describe a tree
Bird in flight
or the sea
In just 24 lines

Commercialism sound bites raised we
Any more is just an impossibility

Feelings flow pages and pages
Explain the pain
Excitement
The insane

But you want only 24 lines
How boring you must be
Such an existence for me
Would be insanity

Have you ever entered a poetry contest. Feelings flow on a piece of paper and then you come across a poetry contest and mistakingly you believe that everybody will understand what your poem is all about as it so perfectly describes what you felt and so, you enter the contest, your submission is turned down as you didn?t read the instructions (ONLY 24 LINES). Has this ever happened to you? I have one poem that is 6 pages long. I think my best work God Person takes up four pages. While I do have a few pieces that would fit nicely into their instructions and I might be able to write something that fits into their guidelines, they and those like them can kiss my ass.

The best poem I have ever read was The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and that?s a book. While it was required reading when I was in school, it would never meet the guidelines of any of these stupid contests. And does anybody really win? Are there judges? or is it just who you know or they take bribes under the table. They tell you that your poem is really nice and they would like to include it in their book, and by the way, would you like to buy it, it will come with a certificate with your name on it.

These people don’t care about poetry, they don’t know poetry, they certainly ARE NOT poet friendly. They wouldn’t know the difference between a good poem or a bad poem, I bet they don’t even write poems themselves. No, its just a gimmick and you are just another person they can make a buck off of. So sad how money making schemes kill artistic talent, I would almost say, there should be a law against that, but we have enough laws, fines and prison cells, don’t need no more of that. But we need to realize that the most profitable is not always the most right way of doing things.

Poem of The Day – Indian Dress

I’ve been doing this for about a month now, publishing a poem of mine each day, but because I accidently deleted all that, I will go one forward and one back.

INDIAN DRESS

She was wearing an indian dress
I must confess
My eyes were took
Her name is Dawn
Rightly so
Her smile brings up the sun
An embrace that rises the blood
She gets on top
always ontop of everything
She rocks
Then we came together
She wears an indian dress
My eyes are took
You can guess the rest
There is no one like her
Not another
Smaller than most
Stronger than many

This used to be one of my most popular poems because it seemed that when someone searched for an indian dress, my poem would show up in the search engine. It was generating a lot of traffic.

Andrew Rice Holding Corporations Accountable

http://andrewforoklahoma.com/newsroom_details.asp?id=1145

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rice: Who is holding corporations accountable in Washington?

OKLAHOMA CITY ? Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Rice said Tuesday that a report from the Government Accountability Office shows how special interests have hijacked U.S. tax codes at the expense of tax cuts for working families and incentives for new energy development.

Each year between 1998 and 2005, over 65% of foreign-owned U.S. corporations paid no income tax, with a high of 71.7% in 2001, according to the GAO’s report.

“This report shows that more than 60 percent of U.S. corporations have been paying no corporate income tax from 1998 to 2005,” Rice said. “Washington is giving million-dollar handshakes to big businesses, but they’re giving working Oklahoma families the cold shoulder.”

Rice also blamed Washington leaders for allowing tax law to benefit U.S. companies that move overseas.

“Not only are most corporations not paying income tax, but multinational companies that relocate American jobs overseas don’t have to pay taxes on the income that those foreign workers generate,” Rice said. “Washington has to get its priorities straight. We should be granting tax breaks to companies that keep jobs right here on American soil.”

“There is clearly a lack of accountability in Washington, which is one of the main reasons I am running for the U.S. Senate,” Rice said. “This is why we need a U.S. Senator who changes with the times and is not stuck in the partisan politics of the last 22 years.”

Rice said Jim Inhofe recently voted against expansion of the child tax credit for working families and assorted tax incentives for alternative energy, but he consistently supports the Bush tax cuts for big business.

“Sen. Inhofe and his friends in Washington have allowed corporations to write themselves out of the tax code while leaving working families to pick up the tab,” Rice said.

Rice said that, as U.S. Senator, he will fight for expanded tax cuts for working families and push for Congressional hearings to examine the full range of corporate giveaways implemented during the Bush years.

The Politics of PRP – Poetry, Religion and People

I destroyed my blog AGAIN. For the third time now I find I am redoing it.? But I think I found a nicer theme.

They say to become a popular blogger, you have to blog on just one thing, but you see, there are two kinds of people; those who are technical and notice all the little details but fail to see the big picture; and then there are people like me who see the big picture but fails to notice all the details.

In an attempt to be technical I have decided that this is a PRP blog.? While that might sound technical, the truth is, this blog is about Poetry, Religion and People and I would say, that about covers the big picture.

So as I jump around testing linux, sharing gardening tips and telling love stories, complaining about the Bush administration and the do nothing Democrats.? Sharing my poem of the day.? WordPress is very good allowing you to use catagories and providing a really good search engine for your blog.? So if you came here looking for something in particular, you might just find it here, but you’ll have to look for it and hopefully it will be there and I won’t destroy this blog again.
