Poem of The Day - Why

Poem, Poem of The Day, Relationships No Comments

WHY

I stab myself with knifes
and cut myself with razors
So that I can cry and complain
Because I love the pain
All those who have loved me
I found a way to make them leave me
So that I can cry and complain
Because I love the pain
I won't get what I want
What I have I don't need
So that I can cry and complain
Because I love the pain
Oh babe you know that I love you
It hurts me to see your way
But I can't help you
I fly away and hope
I can forget you

Poem of The Day - Who’s The Boss

Poem, Poem of The Day, Relationships No Comments

WHO'S THE BOSS

If this is a Man's World
Then there's a
Woman in Charge
I was born of woman
Mothered by woman
A little bit of confidence
She can raise me up
A little bit of anger
She can tear me down
Doesn't she know this?
Why is she than
Afraid of me?
But they don't know
They think we control
But we do everything
for they're approval

For the most part, women are the inspiration and men create what has been inspired. Though there are some men who do abuse women, did you know, it is because they hated their mother.

Off subject, but why does society teach women to avoid a mommas boy? If he loves his mother, he will love you, but if you feel you don’t deserve love, then find someone who hates their mother and you’ll do just fine, just don’t have children, because they don’t deserve that shit.

Has anyone every told you that behind every great man is a great woman.

This is not a man’s world, this is OUR world. We need to take ownership and be responsible rather than just blame others and go on our way.

Poem of the Day - Where Oh Where Is Jesus

Poem, Poem of The Day, Religion No Comments

WHERE OH WHERE COULD JESUS BE

The prophets sing on the radio
Truth is told on a TV picture show
Scriptures read from a magazine
But where or where could Jesus be
I look to the churches
What do I see
pharisees, scribes, and Sadducees

Written around 1989.  The meaning of this poem is obviouse.  Read the gospels and look around you.  Jesus will not be found anywhere, not even among those who call themselves Christian and claim to be his followers.

We Need Eachother

Women teach men how to be easy
Men teach women how to be tough

But in reality
Men have always been easy
And women have always been tough

We just needed eachother to find our self

Poem of The Day - I’m Walking, But I’m Not Saying

Just Me, Poem, Poem of The Day No Comments

From swoosh22.com

I’m Walking, But I’m Not Saying

I’m walking without talking
Got something to tell you
But there are no words to explain
What I have to say
There’s strange feelings in my chest
All mush inside
So often I want to cry
More often I laugh
Don’t mind having all these feelings
But how do I tell you
With no words to explain
As I walk without talking
Not sure where I’m going

I feel for you
I feel for all
Differently for every different one
Don’t know if its good or bad
Sometimes happy
Sometimes sad
It’s kinda neat
Not sure where I’m  at or walking to
There’s a drug for this
Some people might think
Wanting to stop me in the street
Stop my walking feet
Asking where I’m going
Sorry, I’m not knowing
Only believing its where I’m supposed to be at

I’ll be fine, get there in time
If no one condemns me before I get there
Not able to explain this path I walk

When you cry
I’m not far
When you fear
I am here
Can’t read your mind
But I can feel your thoughts

One of my more recent poems, less than a year old.  Sometimes when you’re a guy, you feel things, I think it gets worse when you get older, well, it ain’t wrong and it’s not some kinda disease.  Actually, it’s probably the way we are supposed to be, but the world caused us to throw up fences that come loose; and build walls that crumble with age.

Poem of The Day - Trees Grow Different

TREES GROW DIFFERENT

Stop and consider a moment
You can wear the right cloths
Drive the right kind of car
And say the right things
But who are you
Does anybody care
Don’t you think this is boring
To be in
Being Fav
or
To be in
Being yourself
Look at the trees
Their strong
Live long
But they all grow differently
Yet
When the wind blows
They all bend the same way

Poem of The Day - A Story Of Two Worlds

No War, Poem, Poem of The Day, Religion, Wisdom No Comments

A Story Of Two Worlds

A small planet in the vastness of space
Upon this planet were two worlds
One on the south
The other on the north
The world on the north said
The stars on the south side
    and just a reflection
of our stars in the north
Likewise
The world on the south said
The stars on the north side
    are just a reflection
of our stars in the south

The world on the south claimed
All the water on the north side
had sprung up from reservoirs in the south
Likewise
The world on the north claimed
All the water on the south side
had sprung up from reservoirs in the north

All the people of the north believed
    They were the chosen people
    yes. They were God’s beloved
Only if the people of the south
were like those of us of the north
they could only then be saved
Likewise
All the people of the south believed
    They were the chosen people
    yes. They were God’s beloved
Only if the people of the north
were like those of us of the south
they could only then be saved

Both sides has written their sides down
And both sides called their writing
    the word of God
They taught their children from generation to generation
As the people were taught
The people believed

The people of the north were a righteous people
Likewise
The people of the south were a righteous people
Their righteousness made them zealous
    to do the right thing
Somebody had to save the world

So the righteous of the south
    waged war with the north
It was necessary to put thing
right so that they may learn the
    right way
Likewise
The righteous of the north
    waged war with the south
It was necessary to put things
right so that they may learn the
    right way

A few would die
but for the sake of a new and
    better world
it would be a worthy death

Righteous people by the millions
entered the gates of heaven daily
    until a billion had died
    and there was not enough
    resources to fight with

They stood before the Lord
    and the Lord wept, saying
My beloved, whom I have created
why have you killed each other
    What was in your heart

    You on the south
    I planted the knowledge
    of wind, soil and water

    You on the north
    I planted the knowledge
    of stars, sun and moon

If you wanted a new and better world
    You should have worked together
    Instead
    Out of your self-righteousness
you destroyed each other

    I created beauty
    You created hell
    Daily my heart cried because
    of you

And the Lord walked away

Poem of The Day - The Chief

History, Just Me, Poem, Poem of The Day, Religion, Wisdom No Comments

The Chief

So
The chief smokes grass
and snorts cocaine
Look at the fool
He thinks he’s cool
Of her to whom I care
He has this to say
“I work em in the day
I fuck em at night
It’s hard to do
But I do it right”
To only laugh an evil grin
Acting proud of the way he’s liven
A wife and two kids left behind

He proudly states he was a Christian for fourteen years
Gave it up
It’s more fun to be a heathen

Life is a joke to you
But the joke is you
And the jokes on you

I’ll just sit and smile
Watch you fall from your chair
Because I know you can’t sit there
When you look up
You’ll see me standing there

By:  Roger Harkness

This poem is a true story about a Chief I worked for.  I had gotten the worst eval I had ever gotten in my Navy career all because I refused to smoke dope with him.  You might find that hard to believe with my long hair and drifty nature, but it’s true.

If you ever had to work with someone who does cocaine, you will understand this poem. Cocaine causes you to have a God complex .

What comes around goes around, everybody gets theirs either here or the here after.  Just when he retired a female first class brought rape charges up against him.  The Lieutenant doing the investigation knew that rape wouldn’t mean nothing and he would go free, so he went another direction hearing rumor that the chief did cocaine.  This was just when Reagen declared war on drugs.  I was asked to testify and for that my evals were turned around and others testified as well.  The Chief was forced to take a blood test, cocaine showed up and the Chief  lost all his retirement benefits.  He got what he deserved and I’m sure there will be more coming at him.

Some might say, he served his country for 20 years, but I’ll tell you what, for the last ten years the Navy served him as everyone who worked under him became his personal property and he didn’t treat his things very well.  In the military life is a little different.  You have very few rights, you are property.

Poem of The Day - The First American, Came From Heaven, Born In China

The First American, Came From Heaven, Born in China

It was a half century before Christ
In the land of Lu
the first American was born
Everybody knew
King Kiu
Confucius to you
A discarded son of an aristocrat
The hierarchy of the land
He preached human justice
In a time of human sacrifice
He taught gentlemanliness
In a time of barbarism
He cried there was too much fighting
In a time where there was too much war
He walked across China
Teaching kings who refused to learn
As a Minister of Justice
It was said the land of Lu was paradise
A place of peace and justice
Men did not steal from one another
Because they did not want to
The evil duke became a corrupter
Frustrated
He gave up his post
Built schools
He taught the rich, the poor
He taught the aged, the child
Not math and science
But the art of people respect
Human justice and fair government
He claimed corruptness would end
When we can vote for our leaders
Someday you will see
China will be free
with the help of an American
Who lived long ago
In the land of Lu
King Kiu
Confucius to you
    He left behind a legend
    Teachings we could learn too

By:  Roger Harkness

I’ve read all of the teachings of Confucius, he was a brilliant man, so I wrote this for him.  But I suppose he did not see that if we got to vote for our leaders, their would be lies, deceit and fraud.  But things are much better now than they were way back there in China.  Confucius was in fact the first American and someday maybe China will follow his way.

TOGETHER

I got a mind that wanders
You have a heart that feels
To do this right
You have to be the heart
Let me be the mind
In time you’ll see
Everything is alright

By the way

Poem of The Day - Time

was to my current wife, and I think this poem “Together” was to her also.  My memory is not so good.  I remember things far, far away very well, but recent things I can’t seem to remember so well.  But think this poem was to her.  When we first met and it looked like we might become a thing, she began to insult me, accusing me of dishonesty and stuff.  Well, I knew it was because she loved me and was afraid, so I wrote this poem for her.
